Frequently Asked Questions

Goldfinch Health

How does Goldfinch Health work?

Goldfinch Health is a nonprofit membership that offers a bundle of partner healthcare benefits for you to choose from. Our partners choose to work with us because they align with our mission to support health in creative communities. That’s why we’re able to offer you discounted access to diverse benefits, all in one hub.

In addition to Goldfinch’s partners, Goldfinch itself makes a dental care fund available for its members here.

What do Goldfinch’s partners offer?

We have partnered with Mira, a non-insurance modern health delivery network that works differently than traditional insurance, Bespoke Treatments, a leading physical therapy provider, and Lively, a Health Savings Account (HSA) platform, to give musicians in the US discounted access to high-quality, affordable care.

Mira works by charging a small subscription fee (discounted through Goldfinch) and negotiating reasonable flat copays for their members with select partners. Mira’s analogy is that traditional health insurance is like a buffet, where the restaurant’s profit is reliant on the customer eating less, as most commercial insurers contract with medical providers at the highest rates. In contrast, Mira is like Costco, offering a large selection of services which can be used as often as necessary for a low subscription cost that covers their expenses. Mira provides all Goldfinch members with 15% discounts on their subscriptions.

Bespoke Treatments is a physical therapy provider that focuses on manual therapy, injury recovery, and strength training. Used by many top performers and athletes, Bespoke’s doctors of physical therapy understand the unique therapy needs of classical musicians. They provide all Goldfinch members with 40% discounts regardless of insurance status.

Lively is a Health Savings Account (HSA) platform that allows you to deposit, invest, and spend money on qualified medical expenses tax-free. They help you build a healthcare safety net for unexpected emergencies and routine expenses. (You must have a High Deductible Health Plan to be eligible). They provide eligible Goldfinch members with free HSAs.

Who would most benefit from Goldfinch Health?

Goldfinch is designed by performing artists, for performing artists. Our program is designed to provide classical musicians who are freelance artists and self-employed in the US high-quality, affordable healthcare. However, Goldfinch can still effectively supplement insurance for musicians who have part-time or full employment. (See “What if I already have a health insurance plan?”)

What if I already have a health insurance plan?

Goldfinch membership can be easily combined with an existing health insurance plan for additional discounts and protection with Mira. If your existing insurance has Bespoke Treatments in-network, you will receive a 40% discount off of your normal copay amount. Additionally, using funds from your Lively HSA to pay for a High Deductible Health Plan or a Mira membership are tax-deductible.

Do I need health insurance on top of what Goldfinch offers?

Goldfinch’s partner benefits can be used as standalone healthcare for essential care and physical therapy, but does not cover hospital or emergency services. However, Mira helps you negotiate lower hospital bills. A High Deductible Health Plan can be purchased on State Exchanges or Marketplaces on top of Goldfinch’s membership to get hospital and emergency care covered. Using your Lively HSA to pay for this health plan makes you eligible for tax deductions.

When can I start using services provided by Goldfinch?

As soon as you become a paid member, you can start benefiting from Goldfinch’s partnerships with Mira, Lively and Bespoke Treatments.

Do I have to use all of Goldfinch’s partner services?

No. Although most of our members opt to do so, Goldfinch allows you the flexibility to pick and choose which partner services to use. Contact a team member and we’ll help you set up a solution with the options you want.
